BackerKit Updates: Locking-in orders, preparing for fulfillment!

Pups are just weeks away, which means we need to start preparing our operation! As the first step, we've pressed the "Lock Orders with Final Notice" button in BackerKit. This means that you should've gotten an email indicating orders will be locked in after 48 hours have passed (I've also sent out a reminder email to the ~50 folks who haven't filled out surveys yet).

Once that's done, we'll start charging cards in BackerKit, and ordering shipping supplies for fulfillment later this month! Canvases will ship separately, probably before the games.

Pups on a BOAT

This is a short, but good update! All the copies of Good Puppers are on their way to our warehouses now, using the majestic Container Ship [REDACTED]. According to our freight partners, they should hit our warehouse the second or third week of December. As 2020 is, well, 2020, customs clearance could be weird or delayed, but we'll keep you posted!  

Our plan:

1) Ship out all KS orders to backers(including store backers!) 

2) Prepare for widespread retail availability, Feb 1 2021.

Smol Production News

I come bearing the smol-est of news, but it is news! The factory says that Pups will be completed production in a week and a half. 

Assuming that schedule holds:

• Last week of October: I get a production sample! We review it to make sure there are no glaring errors introduced post-proofing.
• First week of November: Games get on a boat!
• First week of December: Games arrive at warehouse
• Second week of December: Games go into the mail :O

Obviously, any delay in any of these steps (it is 2020, and...well yes) will push back the subsequent steps.

Please pet a pupper or meow at your earliest convenience.

Soooo, you know that feeling when you've gotten onto the plane, pulled away from the gate and then....nothing happens for a long time?

(Note: This analogy joke refers to a concept known as "air travel", a thing that was both possible and ubiquitous in the distant past. Amazing, right?)

Unfortunately, that's where we are right now. The print run for Good Puppers has been paid for, files and proofs long since submitted and approved, but there's a hefty queue of games waiting to take off and they're all ahead of us in line. The current estimate that I've been given is that the games will be produced by the end of October. That means we'd see them in our warehouse in early December.

Here's the problem: That's what I've been told by the factory. We've all been on that airplane, and heard "It'll just be about fifteen minutes" from our stalwart captain. Does that usually wind up being the truth? Weeeeeelllll...

Rather than add my own padding to their estimate and give you all that guess, I'm just going to pass along exactly what they say, when they say it. I hope we get off the ground soon, and in the meantime, we've got a fine array of complimentary very-small snacks!

Good afternoon, pup enthusiasts! I have received a magical package containing PROOFS! You probably want pictures, so I'll just post the pictures before any more talking:

The bad news (delay)

We've checked over everything, and have one little edit to make on a rulebook page, but the rest is all in order! We definitely hoped to have proofs in hand a bit earlier than...our anticipated delivery time, but it's 2020, and all the things happened. We don't have an exact date yet for when we'll have the finished copies, but we'll keep you all posted as we receive updates from the factory. It's going to be at least a couple months to print and ship, but beyond that, it's tough to say. Everything's paid for and ready to go, but processes are jammed up and international freight is...a bit of a mess right now for a variety of reasons. We want to get pups to your table as soon as we can! 

The good news (stickers!!)

You might notice that the sticker sheet above has moooore stickers than were earned as stretch goals during the campaign. Since things got stalled, we decided to make art for all the stickers (plus the cute support St. Bernard) and include them in every copy in the first print run. This means more stickers to place on more places, hurray! 

The BackerKit will stay open until it's time to ship games, both for pre-orders and add-ons. We hope everyone's having as fun a summer as possible! Pet a pupper, if one is nearby :)
